FTJWEB04-45 Surveying tape holder. 6" x 11" pressed steel paddle-shaped case that presumably held a surveying tape as it is painted black with white lettering "E.L. Waring, Esq. Deputy Director of Surveys, E.A.P." A search on the internet finds that Mr. Waring worked in the East Africa Protectorate for Great Britain at the turn of the 19th century. Some wear along edges and a few paint spots. (PLH891)
