7204-027 J. POPPING infill shoulder plane. Cast iron shoulder plane by Joseph Popping, one of the rare US makers of infills, who were clustered in New York in the late 1800s. The iron, rather than the body, is marked, which was typical, but the design is consistent with other Popping planes.?8-1/2" sole, 1-1/2" cutter with one corner chipped. Rosewood infill. The wedge has shrunk so that it slides too far into the body, which is why you see some of these with a shim under the wedge, but the wood is otherwise very clean. Some surface oxidation on the body, and the iron is rusty. A rare infill. Good (CSA476) 150-250
