7004-033 Extra large SHOLL patent mortise gauge. This is the four-bar version but larger than I've seen before. Normally 8" stem, this one has 10-1/2" stem and larger head. The brass plates at the points are longer than typical too (and one brass strip and point are missing). The strip that moves a mortise point is, instead of brass, made of steel with loop at end to move it. 2-1/2" square head has "C. Sholl, Patent March 8, 1864, Mount Joy, Lan Co PA" on it in several font sizes and types. Also has two user stamps. Large chip on one edge of head and smaller chip around wooden locking thumbscrew, brass plate on entire top part of head. Three stems are ruled up to 10 inches. Is it a knockoff or an early prototype version? Good 120 - 240 (SPM1305)
